This afternoon, I decided to sit down and play the piano. It's a great piece called, "I Stand All Amazed" which was arranged by Sally deFord for a choir. I started playing and a depressing thought came to mind, not about the piece, but about the fact that I can play the piece with ease.
My parents paid for me to take piano lessons for about 11 years! I loved every minute of it! Of course there were plenty of weeks that I didn't practice so I developed a talent for sight reading so that it would sound like I practiced all week.
Several people have told me to continue with it and take it in College/Univeristy. I didn't though. I didn't even get to finish a semeter of University!
I'm grateful that I can play the piano! It came in handy when I stayed home and taught out of my home to help bring in an income. But with Mat's schedule now, I can't teach anymore.
My depressing thought was that I'm not really doing anything with my talent. I mean, I never wanted to be a concert pianist, but I would love to accompany someone or play with someone or in an orchestra or something that will challenge me to keep getting better at it.
